Our vision in Anambra is to empower all, says governor’s wife

Awka, Feb. 24, 2017 (TNE): The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has said that the state government’s vision is to empower all its citizens for value-added living.

Obiano said during an empowerment tour of Ihite community in Orumba South Local Government Area on Friday that, that was why the state embarked on an all-inclusive distribution of the dividends of democracy.

She said that the community had benefited from the present government through a science laboratory constructed at Community Secondary School, Ihite under her pet project – Caring Family Enhancement Initiative.

The governor’s wife urged women of the area to become self-reliant as the present society demanded their positive contributions.

In a remark, Mr Mike Okonkwo, the Managing Director of Awka Capital Development Authority and an indigene of the community, said that the community had hardly benefited from the government since the creation of the state.

He urged the community to stand by the present administration and vote for Gov. Willie Obiano in the Nov. 18, 2017 gubernatorial election.

The Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Dr Victoria Chikwelu, urged the women to continue supporting the governor and his wife in their efforts to transform the state.

On her part, Mrs Happiness Ibeh, the President-General of the women wing of the community, expressed happiness with the visit and pledged their total support to the state government.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of books and school bags to indigent children of the community and bags of rice to less privileged women.(TNE)
