El Kanemi beat Niger Tornadoes 2-0 in Maiduguri

Maiduguri, March 12, 2017(TNE): El Kanemi FC of Maiduguri on Sunday beat visiting Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna 2-0 in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League encounter played in Maiduguri.

The team took advantage of home crowd, asserting control throughout the match duration at the El Kanemi Sports Centre.

Samuel Mathias cashed on a defensive error to net in the first goal at the 36th minute, while Ibrahim Babangida increased the tally in the 59th minute.

Handlers of both teams expressed satisfaction with the match. However, coach Abubakar Bala of Niger Tornadoes blamed the loss on ill luck.

“It was a good match, we played well, it is just that we were not lucky to win.

“It is a league, we are going back home to prepare for our next game,” he said.

Coach Ladan Bosso of El Kanemi attributed his victory to hard work, saying they won because ”we deserve the victory.

“By this victory we have reached a stage where we have gathered momentum towards making a great impact in the league,” Bosso said.

He added that his dream was to win a continental ticket at the end of the season.(TNE)
