Abuja, March 16, 2017 (TNE): The Federal Government has postponed the conference on National Council on Agriculture, Dr Bukar Hassan, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has said.
The event was initially scheduled to hold from March 20 to March 24 in Umuahia, the capital of Abia.
Hassan announced the postponement in Abuja on Thursday at a meeting with Commissioners for Agriculture.
He said the postponement was to enable the ministry to finalise some arrangements for the programme and for the commissioners to come with better results.
The permanent secretary, who expressed regret over the inconveniences the postponement might have caused participants, said a new date would be communicated to the states.
The National Council on Agriculture was held in Kano State in February, 2016.
The aim of the event is to review and come up with a viable document on national agricultural policy to help the country to attain self-sufficiency in food production for consumption and for export. (TNE)
