NEMA confers award on GOC for humanitarian service

Maiduguri, March 17, 2017(TNE): NEMA on Friday conferred an award on the the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army,  Brig.- Gen. Victor Ezugwu for his outstanding performance.

NEMA North East Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed  Kanar presented the award to the GOC at the Headquarters, 7 Division, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

Kanar remarked that the people of Borno in particular were highly indebted to the Nigerian Army under the command of the GOC 7 Division in liberating 22 local government areas that were hitherto under the control of Boko Haram terrorists.

He noted the humanitarian gestures of the 7 Division GOC towards the less privileged in the state as well as the IDPs in Bakassi Camp had endeared the GOC to the people of the State and other non- governmental organisations.

”This necessitated the reason for the award,” he declared.

Ezugwu expressed gratitude for the honour done to him and dedicated the award to gallant officers and soldiers who had paid the supreme price in the fight against terrorism in the North East.

He also commended the National Emergency Management Agency for steadfastness and resilience in the discharge of its humanitarian services.

He said the army would continue to assist the organisation especially in providing escort support. (TNE)
