Management sacks head coach, Kogi United FC

Lokoja , March 21, 2017 (TNE): The management of Kogi United FC has sacked its head coach for poor performance, the chairman of the club, Abdul Sale,  announced in Lokoja on Wednesday.

In a statement, Sale said that Assistant Coach Musa Abubakar would  take over from Jatau in interim capacity.

In the match played on Saturday at the Confluence Stadium, Kogi United were beaten 1-0 by the visiting club, a performance the chairman described as disappointing.

“We are aspiring to get promoted to NPFL this season, we tried that last year but we did not succeed due to tactical deficiencies as we lost most games in crucial moments.

“Also, our last result against Zamfara FC was not encouraging, which had reflected from the pre- season matches even with the good team that we have.
“Unfortunately, we do not have a tactical approach which prompted our decision to ask the head coach to step aside, his assistant, Musa Abubakar, to act in the interim until a decision for a new handler is reached.
“It is a very difficult decision to take, but that is the game.
”Jatau is a nice and great guy, he had tried all he could but things did not just really worked out for him, so we wish him well,” Sule, a former international, explained in the statement.
The club will be at home again this weekend as they host FRSC Football Club. (TNE)
