Obasanjo’s wife wants court to stop her son’s wedding

Lagos, March 27, 2017 (TNE):The wife of  former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Taiwo, on Monday filed a suit at an Ikeja High Court in Lagos  seeking to stop the wedding of her son, Olujonwo, scheduled for May 11.
Taiwo is seeking a postponement of the wedding of her son  to Tope Adebutu slated for May 11 and May 12, because she wants a new date after June 1.
The former president  as well as the father of the bride, Sir Kessington Adebutu, are respondents in the suit.
Adebutu is the promoter of Premier Lotto, also  known as “Baba Ijebu.”
In the suit, Taiwo  is seeking a court declaration that as the mother of the groom, she has  the right  to take part in the deliberations, decisions and activities leading to the forthcoming ceremony.
She said wedding invitations had  been sent out  without her input to the preparations for the wedding programme.
Taiwo also  said she  received prophesies and warnings from soothsayers  that her  34-year-old  son  should not be involved in any elaborate celebration before his birthday, a date she did not specifically disclose.
She urged  the court to compel  Obasanjo and Adebutu  to shift the wedding to a date after June 1.
Taiwo said she had already appealed to Adebutu, Mrs Rosemary Dacosta, the mother of the bride, Martins as well as the  bride-to-be.
The Nigerian Expression recalls that  on Dec. 17, 2016, Olujonwo and Tope had  a lavish introduction ceremony.
Justice Lateefa Okunnu has fixed April 10 for hearing of the case.(TNE)
