Kwara Assembly moves against strip tease clubs, summons operators

Ilorin, Aug. 9, 2017 (TNE): To send a clear opposition signal to hotels running strip tease clubs in Ilorin metropolis, the Kwara House of Assembly on Wednesday summoned the management of Kwara Hotels and other operators.

The Nigerian Expression (TNE) reports that the state-owned hotel and many relaxation outlets now run strip clubs where teenagers, especially students of tertiary institutions, dance nude to entertain patrons.

Raising the issue under matters of urgent importance, the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke, expressed dismay at the surge in the number of strip tease clubs springing up in the Kwara capital.

He said there is the need for the lawmakers to act in order to save the image of Ilorin as a city renowned for Islamic scholarship.

Other lawmakers, who spoke in a similar vein, lamented the depravity in strip tease clubs and called the on house for intervention.

The Deputy Speaker, Mathew Okedare, who presided over the plenary, while reading the resolutions of the House, directed the Chief Executive Officer of Kwara Hotels, Mrs Funmi Abdulkadir, to appear before the lawmakers on Tuesday.

The House also summoned the proprietors of some private hotels in Ilorin in a similar entertainment brouhaha (TNE)
