Gov Wike advises new commissioners on commitment to duty

Port Harcourt, Aug. 30, 2017 (TNE) : Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, swore in 14 new commissioners, and a permanent Secretary, following the sack of the old hands in July.

“We demand 100 per cent loyalty in the course of your duty to achieve success in our services to people,’’ he said.

Wike also urged the commissioners and permanent secretary to see their jobs as an opportunity to serve the people and not to enrich themselves.

He also urged them to exhibit responsible character, while carrying out their duties, saying that they should desist from unguarded utterances at all times.

“Any of you can be assigned a portfolio to work in any ministry.

“I want to plead with you to do your work well; don’t go and fight with the permanent secretaries, do the work you are assigned to do,’’ the governor advised.

According to him, anyone found wanting will be dropped from the cabinet.

Those sworn in include Mr Emma Okah, Mr Charles Nworgu, Chief Walter Ibibia, Dr Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja, Mrs Ukuel Oyaghiri, Mr Isretaryaac Kamalu and Mr Damiete Herbe rt-Miller.

Others were Boma Iyaye, Emeka Onowu, Prof. Princewill Chike, Tasie Nwobueze, Sylvanus Nwankwo, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku and Rodaford LongJohn.

Mrs Ibiwari Ogolo was sworn in as the permanent secretary. (TNE)
