Enhance performance in 2018, SERVICOM boss directs nodal officers

Abuja, Dec. 15, 2017 (TNE) Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, the National Coordinator of SERVICOM, has directed officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies to work harder in 2018 for optimal performance.

She made the call at the end of year meeting for the National Council of Nodal Officers in Abuja, stating that the meeting is to deliberate on how best to improve service delivery.

She commended the officers for their performances so far and urged them to be civil in discharging their duties and the way they manage customers.

“We need to rededicate ourselves to the service for more efficient service delivery; we need to prepare our homes so that we won’t be taken unaware when the activities lined up for 2018 kick start.

“Next year, we will do greater than we have done this year; I want you all to improve in all that you have achieved this year.

“I want us to move forward and be more vibrant as we are looking up to more lively and beneficiary activities next year,’’ Akajemeli said.

She also said the Human Rights Radio station has accepted to host the SERVICOM Help Desk programme.

According to her, the programme will be a media magazine platform, where the public will be reporting their service delivery experiences, challenges and service failures.

Mrs Ebele Okoye, nodal officer for the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), said for the SERVICOM unit to be strengthened in MDAs, nodal officers should be high ranking officers.

Okoye added that nodal officers should be able to reach the directorate cadre as this will help them to influence and relate with the management of their organisations.

“Nodal officers should be at higher level to enable them to advise the management on issues that are not going well with the SERVICOM’s standard,’’ Okoye said.

Also, Dr Ayansola Abayomi, nodal officer at the National Universities Commission, called on the law makers to enact a legal framework for SERVICOM to give the organisation a legal backing.

Abayomi said the funding for the organisation should also be improved, noting that “if SERVICOM succeeds, the present administration will succeed.’’

The organisation presented awards to the best nodal officers and best Ministerial SERVICOM Units (MSU) in the year.

The awards for the Best Nodal Officers went to Mrs Adetokunbo Idowu, the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Ebele Okoye, FAAN, Mr Tijani Umar, State House.

Also, the organisation rated the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, FAAN and State House as the best MSUs.

Akajemeli said that the awardees were selected based on their innovations, hard work and competence.
